BBQ and Summer Food Safety
Spring and summer is often signaled by the smell of food cooking on the BBQ. While outdoor cooking and eating can be fun and delicious, safe food preparation and handling must be considered. Be sure to follow manufacturers guidelines when operating your BBQs especially for the first time each season. Be sure to properly store or refrigerate all foods, especially meats, salads, and dairy products as the heat can facilitate the growth of harmful bacteria. When cooking and eating outside there is not always access to washing facilities, which increases the risk of food-borne illnesses. Be sure to keep food covered and away from insects while enjoying the outdoors. Use the links below to discover information about BBQ and food safety tips for your family this season.
