Garden Safety
Many people find gardening a great psychological stress-reliever however it can produce physical stress on your body. Consider your posture as you dig. Follow safety precautions on products as you tackle the weeds. Adhere to manufacturers operating instructions when using power tools including the lawn mower. Never mow the lawn in bare feet or open-toed sandals. If you use pesticides consider some of the damaging effects these chemicals may have on you and the environment. Use appropriate personal protective equipment like eye protection, a mask, and gloves. Ensure you are not violating any by-laws in your community. Gardens can be a nuisance for allergy sufferers. After gardening, wash your hands thoroughly to remove dirt from underneath your fingernails so you do not ingest chemicals or biological agents from the soil.
