Pools
On average during the summer months, seven people per day in Ontario visit the emergency room due to a water related injury. Drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death among Ontario children under age 5. Children must be constantly supervised around pools and water, including shallow "kiddy" pools or inflatable pools. All the child requires is enough water to cover his nose and mouth. Be sure to install safety fencing around your pool as per your municipality's requirements. Dump out the water in your children's inflatable or plastic pools when you are not supervising play. Properly store pool chemicals out of the reach of children and pets and read and follow all manufacturers handling and storage directions.
